Final Day in Costa Rica

May 25, 2014

Last Morning

Our last day in Costa Rica.

Breakfast Taco

Our last Breakfast in Costa Rica.

Gallo Pinto

After eating our Breakfast Tacos and Gallo Pinto, we packed up all our things, said goodbye to the staff, and hopped in the rental car.

We decided against doing the 6.5 hour drive back to San Jose, and instead decided to take a little puddle jumper. The drive to the little airport in Tambor was 45 minutes, and the flight was just over 20 minutes. WAY more civilized.

It was slightly nervewracking as the runway was not long… and at the end of the runway was the ocean…

Zero room for error.

I was totally calm, cool and collected.

The pilot did a great job of not flying us into the ocean.

I’m so glad we decided to take the plane back because the views were amazing!

It was cool seeing Costa Rica from above.

Isle Tortuga

We flew over Isle Tortuga, where we went snorkeling on Day 4. The little tiny rock surrounded by boats in the bottom left corner is where we snorkeled, and the beach on the top right is where we went afterward to relax and eat fruit and fish!

I was a bit nervous to be taking the little plane because it looked like it might be a stormy day when we left Mal País.

I’ve heard flying through storm clouds in a puddle jumper is not the most fun thing…

Thankfully it was nothing but blue skies!

And what little clouds there were were small and non-aggressive.

Less than half an hour later we landed at San Jose airport.

We will definitely be flying from San Jose to Mal País next time… The drive was beautiful, but too long!

Once we grabbed our bags from the plane we re-checked in for our flight home.

It was so sad to leave Costa Rica, but we will without a doubt be back in the near future 🙂

The last day of any get away is always bitter sweet with us. We hate having to return to our daily grind but we immediately begin to plan our next great escape for adventure.
I hope you had a great time we will he visiting Costa Rica in April of ’15. We just returned from Maui.

I agree, as soon as we boarded the plane we were already discussing our next adventure! I think we settled on Hawaii, great surf there!

As you can see we had an amazing time in Costa Rica! Whereabouts will you be going?
I hope you love it as much as we did 🙂

We just returned from Maui last week. We are currently making plans for Aruba in September.

We are an adventurous couple and really have no specific location in Costa Rica. We will be spending between 7 and 10 days there as we have a wedding to attend. We as usual will most likely be venturing off in our rental car and taking it as we go. Lol

Sounds perfect!! We went without any real plans either, though we did know we were going to stay in the same area for the week. Next time we go back we’d definitely like to explore more areas.
