Paris: Day Three!

April 23, 2011

Day three started out once again with our delicious hotel breakfast. We got chocolate pastries today along with our baguette and croissants! And my favourite was a roll with creme baked inside, not unlike the centre of a Boston cream donut! Only, more French.

After we ate we headed out to explore the left bank. We came across La Maison du Chocolat and stopped in to take a peek.

The moment we walked through the door we were hit with the most delicious aroma. Everything looked amazing, and even the packaging was done beautifully! We decided to drop by again on our way back, just so the chocolate didn’t melt as we wandered around.

We walked over to Le Bon Marché and explored La Grande Epicerie Paris. It was a fabulous food shop that seemed to have everything, including giant buckets of Nutella…

There were pretty cupcakes, cookies, and all sorts of different sweets and pastries!

Oh, and there was a giant Lego Buzz Lightyear… Awesome.

After saying au revoir to Buzz we walked along until we came across Hermès. We stopped in to look at the scarves and realized they had a little café inside! It was after 2pm so we figured we’d stop in for a bite to eat.

We ordered pretty pink drinks that were a blend of raspberry, lychee and rose.

They were such a pretty colour and smelled almost perfume-y. And they were tasty!

We ate our tasty lunches (crunchy chicken salad for mom and eggs and truffle for me) with our fancy Hermès forks. H for Hermès!

After lunch we tried once again to get into Ladurée. We even tried going to a smaller location that wasn’t as busy, but the line was even longer than the one on the Champs Élysées!! So the plan is to wake up reeeeaaally early tomorrow morning and get there RIGHT when they open and hopefully beat the line!! Fingers crossed.

Hey look! A restaurant just for me!!

“What is a Cosi?” you might ask. Well, according to the signage, I’m a focaccia… Too bad we’d already had lunch.

Our last stop of the day was back to Amorino for more gelato. This time I decided to get it in a cone, because they make it so pretty!!

Not only is it pretty, but it is SO good!! I got three flavours again. One was vanilla, it was just so good last time that I had to have it again! One was chocolate hazelnut, and it was pretty much like eating straight Nutella… There were even huge swirls of Nutella all through it!! Amazing. The third flavor was salted caramel, and it was incredible. The three flavours were all so good together, and the salted caramel gave me a really good idea for a chocolate lava cupcake with salted caramel sauce! Yummmmm.

That was my third day in Paris. Tomorrow is my fourth and final day, so I’ll have to make the best of it!!

Cosi, you are not a foccaccia. You are something more awesome than that: you are “like this”!

And those gelati seems so delicious! Is there any “zuppa inglese”?

    Great post!

Not sure about “zuppa inglese”… I guess I’ll just have to go back again today and see!
